Emma E. Maclennan
Director/ Producer

AIR is Emma’s directorial debut.  Before making AIR, Emma worked as a production manager on independent British feature films. Based in London but working all over the UK, she worked on each film from script development through to delivery to the distributor; supporting productions from conception to screen. She then made the natural progression into producing.

Shortly after filming AIR at the V&A Museum in London, Emma was invited to participate in an Artistic Residency at TEMPO Festival in Rio de Janeiro.  Part of ‘London Occupation Rio’ in partnership with People’s Palace Projects Ltd and the British Council, this involved collaboration with Brazilian Artists and creation of a live festival performance at TEMPO Festival.

At the Oscar®-qualifying Palm Springs International ShortFest where AIR premiered, Emma took part in an on-stage Q&A with 3 other filmmakers, including Stephanie Laing (Veep, Your Friends and Neighbours, Palm Royale). During the BAFTA-qualifying Aesthetica Film Festival in the UK, Emma was asked to be a panel member at a special event sponsored by Creative England called ‘Meet The Filmmakers’ where AIR was one of only 6 films chosen to be showcased.

Achieving official selection at international film festivals across the globe, AIR went on to win Best Sci-Fi Short Film at Phoenix Film Festival and Best Sci-Fi Short Film at London Independent Film Festival.

Once the festival run was complete, Emma secured a distribution deal for AIR with prestigious short film distributor, Shorts International Ltd. Since then, AIR has been exhibited globally through television and digital distribution on Apple iTunes, Amazon Prime Video, and ShortsTV – the leading 24/7 HD TV channel and network dedicated to short films.

Emma is currently developing two feature scripts which she plans to direct.
