George Foulgham
Re-recording Mixer

When George worked on AIR, he was a several-times BAFTA nominated and award-winning dubbing and re-recording mixer at London postproduction house Molinare, where he headed the renowned feature documentary audio department since 2002. During his time there, the department continuously hit new technical heights, whilst endeavouring to stay at the forefront of the ever-evolving world of factual audio postproduction.

With over 40 years of industry experience, he has been responsible for the sound postproduction on some of the world’s most important and respected film and television documentaries including the Oscar-winning feature Man on Wire which also picked up the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance and a BAFTA. George’s work on the film was widely recognised as a breakthrough for feature documentary sound as a genre and played a vital role in the film’s success.

Aside from this prodigious achievement, George also won a BAFTA for his work on Trawlermen in 2010, and an RTS Craft & Design award for Fighting the War in 2003.  His work has been recognised with further BAFTA nominations for Brazil with Michael Palin, New Europe, Trawlermen: Pick of the Catch, Himalaya with Michael Palin, Sahara with Michael Palin and Soho Stories, and a Broadcast Tech Innovation award nomination for Terms & Conditions: A UK Drill Story.

In 2021, George was thrilled to have won the Association of Motion Picture Sound (AMPS) Excellence in Factual Sound Award for Ronnie’s, a documentary feature chronicling the life of saxophonist Ronnie Scott and his world famous London jazz club. That same year, George left Molinare to found George Foulgham Soundscapes Ltd and, in 2023, won the prestigious Hollywood Professional Association (HPA) Award for Outstanding Sound Documentary for If These Walls Could Sing, directed by Mary McCartney for Disney+. This documentary went on to receive BAFTA and AMPS sound nominations in 2024.
